Scrap the Cap

Sign my petition to allow concessionary bus pass holders to use the bus before 9.30am.

Over 1,500 people have now signed my petition to scrap the cap on bus pass usage.

The Prime Minister himself gave his backing to this campaign in the House of Commons.

Particularly for elderly residents who may have early morning appointments they need to get to, scrapping the pre-9.30am cap for free bus pass holders will help them save money and attend essential appointments. This issue has frequently come up in conversation with constituents and was also mentioned in responses to my bus survey.

2020 research from the House of Commons of Library shows that across the country almost a quarter of older persons' and just over a third of disabled passes were allowed to use their passes on buses before 9.30am by local authorities.

It is at the discretion of the Council not to allow the elderly and those with disabilities to use early morning buses and they can make the choice to overturn this decision.

Please join the Prime Minister in backing this campaign by adding your name to the petition below.
